When you select the name of a collection you can now choose between the Details and Indexes views. Indexes view provides more information about the existing indexes of a collection.
In MongoDB, indexes provide efficiency while executing queries . If you are repeatedly sending queries on the same fields, create an index on those fields to improve performance for the respective queries.
